Aetna Coverage Availability & Fees
Aetna offers a few different types of plans:
- A DMO plan requires you to visit an in-network dentist. You pay set fees for certain services.
- An indemnity plan allows you to visit any dentist. However, you have to pay for services upfront. Later, Aetna provides reimbursement.
- A PPO plan also allows you to visit any licensed dentist. When you go to an in-network oral healthcare provider, you can expect to pay to pay less than at out of network providers. PPO plans may have a deductible, coinsurance, and an annual maximum (the most that Aetna will payout for services within a year).
If you have a PPO policy, your preventive care, such as cleanings and checkups, may be covered at 100 percent when you visit an in-network dentist. Restorative services may be covered at 50 – 80 percent, depending on the exact nature of the procedure and the details of your specific dental insurance plan.
Besides saving money, visiting an in-network dentist comes with other advantages as well. Since our team is used to working with Aetna, we can provide insightful suggestions to help you get the most out of your policy. We may even be able to schedule your treatment in a way that minimizes your out of pocket costs. For example, completing major procedures across multiple appointments between calendar years may enable you to take advantage of two annual maximums rather than just one.
